The District Chief Executive Hon. Stephen Kwame Quaye has specified an intense
interpretation of local government performance within the district from the time when
they assumed power in 2017.
In an encounter with the media in a Meet the press hearing at the Seventh Day Adventist
Church (SDA) in Awutu Bereku, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Kwame
Quaye said the goals of the conference is to convey to the stakeholders and the general
public about projects and programmes fulfilled by government in the last few years.
On revenue performance, Mr. Quaye said in the year 2016 the assembly made a budget of
506,300.00 but had an actual of 501,260.00 but after taking up the mantle in the year
2017 the assembly made a budget of 623,025.00 and made an actual of 591,873.78 and in
the year 2018 made another budget of 635,260.00 and made a great actual of 759,314.31
which clearly indicates how assiduous the assembly performed in generating revenue
internally for the assembly to develop the Awutu Senya West Constituency. In the year
2019 the assembly made a budget of 700,325.00 and made an actual of 525,455.86
making 2018 the highest in the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) revenue performance.
On education he said there has been an improvement in quality and access to education
within the district. The enrolment trend in public basic schools have greatly improved.
Breaking it down; in the year 2016/2017 there was a total of 26,435 school children
within the district which comprises 13,545 (boys) and 12,890 (girls). In the year
2017/2018 the total number of school children went up to a total of 26,952 with a number
of boys and girls 13,437 and 13,515 respectively. Education being the best priority within
the district, the year 2018/2019 saw major increment in enrolment within various schools
with a total number of 27,700 with boys 14,001 and girls 13,699. The assembly in the
year 2016 had only six benefiting from the school feeding programme but with the able
leadership of the Akuffo Addo government, in the year 2017 ten more schools have been
added to the school feeding programme. It was again increased to twenty-four and to
sixty-one in the years 2018 and 2019 respectively under the leadership of the MP Hon.
George Andah. Vacation class by the MP for final year students and comprehensive
monitoring and supervision by the Ghana Education Service and District Assembly have
also improved the performance of final year students in the BECE. In the year 2016 the
performance was 66% and in the years 2017 and 2018 it went up to 73% and 74%. The
honorable member of parliament (MP) within the district awarded scholarship to brilliant
but needy students to pursue their tertiary education with his MP’s District Assembly
Common Fund (DACF). With the aid of GETFUND the assembly has been able to
construct a boys’ dormitory at Senya SHS for male students’ comfort. A donation of 140
computers have been provided to Senya and Obrachire SHS.
On health he said, the district has been provided with one doctor for the people of
Bawjiase, five physicians, one hundred and sixty nurses and thirty midwives that are
giving quality healthcare to the people within the district. The assembly have provided
twenty-six (26) functional CHPS compound within the district and have upgraded the
health center of Bawjiase to Polyclinic, the maternity ward and the doctor’s have also
been renovated by the MP and provided them with hospital equipment. Mechanized
borehole has been provided to the people of Papaase by the support of Vitamilk. Male,
female and children ward have been constructed at Senya to aid health care.

There has been a construction of footbridge at Bawjiase Zongo which is to aid easy to
and flow within the community during rainy seasons and there is a construction of
0.9MM pipe culvert at Oframase and Kofi Ansah to give easy access to the road users.
There is a reshaping and resealing of roads which is currently ongoing from Bawjiase to
Fianko, Obrachire to Kwaman, Pobikwaa to Tawiahkwaa, Bawjiase to Topiase and
opening up of 1.25KM access road at Akrampa and resealing of Awutu Bereku town
roads.
On sanitation, construction of piped water supply system in Awutu Senya District has
been provided with a rehabilitation of boreholes within the district with a booster station
at Bontrase, Jei Krodua and Bawjiase Okwando to provide clean water. The district has
built toilet facilities for some selected communities and dustbins have
been provided to curb indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
On livelihood empowerment, some funds have been provided to people with disability to
start their own business. Some have been provided with deep freezers and sewing
machines. Some too requested for catering services and with the help of the DCE has
beenabletoestablishhisfoodjoint.
On security, the member of parliament together with the assembly have provided logistics to the district police command to curb crime rates within the district especially Senya and to maintain law and order in the district. Street lights are being provided at every vantage places within the district to prevent any evil activities.

The member of parliament also assured constituents of completion of the Bawjiase lorry park, markets and business training centers within the district.
